Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is a very popular whole body type of massage and is very versatile. The term “Swedish Massage” can be traced back to 1858 when a Swede named Per Hendrick Lang developed it based on ancient Egyptian, Chinese, Greek and Roman massage techniques. Dutch practitioner Johann Georg Mezger developed it further and was also responsible for applying the French terms to the different strokes (efflurage and petrissage for example).

A one hour massage will typically cover your neck, shoulders, legs, feet, arms and finally your head. It works on the superficial layers of the epidermis, but I can work deeper if required (see Deep Tissue Massage). During our consultation we can ascertain what you would like to gain from the massage and which areas you would like me to concentrate on. If you hate your feet being touched, that’s absolutely fine! I will use the time on an area where you have additional tension or where you simply love being massaged. In addition I will also ask you about your skin type and will choose a natural oil that will help to nourish and feed your skin.
